Why Witness to Witnesses?

In the audio series called Jehovah's Witnesses: The Door to a Different Kingdom, produced by Hope for the Heart, an ex-Witness spoke about the need to evangelize those couples who knock on your door on a Saturday morning. As with worldly people, these folks also need to hear the gospel that freed us.

As James 2:8 (KJV) admonishes us, "If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, 'Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself,' ye do well:"

But some believers are reluctant to even talk with Jehovah's Witnesses because those folks are trained to twist the scriptures and befuddle us who worship Christ. Even so, the Apostle Paul wrote in 2 Timothy 2:15 (KJV) that we must, "Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth."

And as he also admonished in 2 Timothy 4:2 (KJV),, we must,  "Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine."

And remember too that what we believe is from God himself, not some human authority such as their Watchtower Society. Jesus prayed in John 17:17 KJV), "Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth."

Remember likewise what Paul wrote in 2 Timothy 3:16 KJV). "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:"

Let's then be like Paul who wrote in 1 Corinthians 9:16 (KJV), "For though I preach the gospel, I have nothing to glory of: for necessity is laid upon me; yea, woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel!"

I remember what the Lord said in Ezekiel 3:18 (KJV), "When I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; and thou givest him not warning, nor speakest to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life; the same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand."

Who Will be Barred from Heaven?

 I've written before about sinners and obliquely mentioned who won't be allowed in heaven. Thanks to the Apostle Paul, I can be more specific.

Those proponents of political correctness want us to tolerate supposedly alternative lifestyles. Too bad for them that God doesn't share their reprobate ideas. Instead, they'll face his wrath and miss out on eternal joy.

Look at what Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 (KJV). "Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God."

While this is not a comprehensive list, it does show that out-and-out sinners of all sorts will end up barred from God's kingdom. Even those who claim to have same-sex attractions, or who believe their the opposite gender of the physical bodies they were born with, will miss out.
Some folks object that they were born homosexual or lesbian. Like June Hunt of Hope for the Heart aptly said, these people are victims of mistaken identity. Thousands of former homosexuals and lesbians attest to the fact that they can and have changed. If those individuals were actually "born that way," change would be impossible.

No matter what a person's proclivity toward forms of sin is, the Lord commands people to forsake their supposed lifestyle and obey him. If they don't, he honours their choice by sending them to the place where all other wicked rebels end up. This is because he knows that heaven would be hellish for those individuals so he graciously lets them go to where they desire to be.

DEALING WITH THE CHRISTMAS BLUES

According to many folks, the holiday season should be the most joyous time of year. But for those who came from broken families or who lost a loved one at this time of year, all the frivolity sets their teeth on edge. "Don't worry - be happy," is no help at all. Neither are the other platitudes people spout off whenever they encounter a wounded individual.

Therefore, some churches, such as South Main Baptist in Houston, Texas, recognize that this time of year is painful for an increasing number of people. This is a welcome change, in my opinion, because not everybody comes from a happy and intact family. With divorce increasing and all the turmoil it causes, children are the ones to suffer most. Saying useless things like "cheer up" just doesn't help.

What many broken people need is what June Hunt from Hope for the Heart teaches. The reason so many folks feel such a tremendous burden is because they're hanging on to their hurts. If they could find somebody who would take them away and recognize that God is the one who repays wickedness, those folks would eventually feel much better. When a person becomes a believer in Christ, the hurts of the past can be handed over to Jesus to bear. After all, God is in a much better position to perfectly punish wrongdoers and to heal wounded hearts.

I'm living proof that this works. Over the years, I've been able to deal with the injustices in my past by handing them, the pain I felt, and my assumed right to prosecute them to the Lord. I still have some residual pain but nothing compared to what I once suffered. I'm grateful to June Hunt for her marvelous biblical counsel.
