Saturday Song: Gladys Knight and the Pips, "Midnight Train to Georgia"

I can't help but love this song. The woman in it is so loyal to her man that she'd rather live in his world than live without him in hers. It shows a love that's deeper than affection for one's home and friends.

Listen to this song here.

We have a great example of this sacrificial love in the Bible. Ruth 1:16 (KJV) reads, "And Ruth said, 'Entreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following after thee: for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God:'"

Naomi and her husband left Israel because of a severe drought. Her sons married women of Moab, one being Orpah and the other Ruth. When the drought ended, Naomi wanted to return to Bethlehem but she didn't want her daughter-in-laws to follow her. Orpah went back but Ruth traveled to Naomi's homeland. As a result, she became part of the lineage which brought Christ into the world.

Furthermore, we see right from the start that the Bible is clear about a man and a woman marrying for life. Matthew 19:5 (KJV)quotes Jesus, "And said, 'For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh?'" This was in regard to a question from the Pharisees about divorce.

Of course love must work both ways, Paul wrote in Ephesians 5:25 (KJV), "Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;"

I hope you enjoyed this song and what I wrote. Please leave me a comment if you want to.

By the way, Monday's post will be about Jesus as the ultimate high priest. I'll also explain why we need him to advocate for us.

Which Religion is the Misogynistic one?

Feminists, in general,  rail against Christianity, calling it misogynistic and patriarchal. But these folks fail to recognize their own hypocrisy. Having studied the Qu'ran, I find that it's far more patriarchal and misogynistic than what Christianity is accused of being.

For starters, the Qu'ran allows men to have up to four wives each. Look at what sura 4:3 (anNisa’) says. "If you fear you cannot act fairly towards the orphans—then marry the women you like two, or three, or four. But if you fear you will not be fair, then one, or what you already have. That makes it more likely that you avoid bias."

While it's laudable to provide for orphans and women who have lost husbands, the real God frowns upon bigamy. The Pharisees asked Jesus about divorce and he gave the heavenly Father's answer as to how many wives a man should have. Mark 10:7-9 (BBE)  says, "For this cause will a man go away from his father and mother, and be joined to his wife; And the two will become one flesh; so that they are no longer two, but one flesh. Let not that which has been joined together by God be parted by man."

Additionally, sura 4:34. (anNisa’) says that disobedient women can be beaten. "Men are the protectors and maintainers of women, as Allah has given some of them an advantage over others, and because they spend out of their wealth. The good women are obedient, guarding what Allah would have them guard. As for those from whom you fear disloyalty, admonish them, and abandon them in their beds, then strike them. But if they obey you, seek no way against them. Allah is Sublime, Great."

But what does God, through the Holy Spirit, say men should do? Paul wrote in Ephesians 5:25 (KJV), "Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;"

And in Colossians 3:19 (KJV), Paul admonished, "Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them."

Regarding widows, the New Testament is clear that kinsmen or the church should care for those who are elderly. Paul wrote in 1 Timothy 5:16 (KJV) that, "If any man or woman that believeth have widows, let them relieve them, and let not the church be charged; that it may relieve them that are widows indeed."

A few verses earlier, he said widows who are young shouldn't be put on the church list since they are likely to remarry. That insured genuine needs could be met.

I could probably write a whole book just on this subject. Instead, I'll add this to my next book called You Think You're Going to Heaven? Islam claims to be superior to Christianity but careful study has shown me how inferior it is, even to the Old Testament.

On Saturday, I'll post about another song mentioning Jesus. For a few years, it was trendy for secular bands to sing about our Lord.

New Testament Vs. Qu'ranic Treatment of Women

If God and Allah are the same person, why the sudden change in the treatment of women? It would seem that God, who is the same yesterday, today, and forever, should arbitrarily change marriage and divorce laws.

Jesus ratified the ancient covenant of marriage when he said in Matthew 19:5-6 (KJV), "And said, 'For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh?' Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder."

This prompted the Pharisees to ask why Moses allowed divorce to happen. Jesus replied in Matthew 19:8 (KJV), "He saith unto them, 'Moses because of the hardness of your hearts suffered you to put away your wives: but from the beginning it was not so.'"

Islam, on the other hand, affirms polygamy. Sura 4:3 sets out how many wives a man may have. "If you fear you cannot act fairly towards theorphans—then marry the women you like—two, or three, or four. But if you fear you will not be fair, then one, or what you already have. That makes it more likely that you avoid bias.

And speaking of divorce, the Qu'ran also allows it for the sake of dissatisfaction. Sura 66:5 says, 'Perhaps, if he divorces you, his Lord will give him in exchange wives better than you: submissive, believing, obedient, penitent, devout, fasting—previously married, or virgins."

The New Testament doesn't have any instruction regarding dividing worldly inheritance. Even so, Jesus and the apostles focused on the eternal inheritance in heaven. Luke 12:13-14 (KJV) states, "And one of the company said unto him, 'Master, speak to my brother, that he divide the inheritance with me.' And he said unto him, 'Man, who made me a judge or a divider over you?'"

But look what the Qu'ran says about dividing the earthly inheritance. Sura 4:11 states, "Allah instructs you regarding your children: The male receives the equivalent of the share of two females. If they are daughters, more than two, they get two-thirds of what he leaves. If there is only one, she gets one-half. As for the parents, each gets one-sixth of what he leaves, if he had children. If he had no children, and his parents inherit from him, his mother gets one-third. If he has siblings, his mother gets one-sixth. After fulfilling any bequest and paying off debts. Your parents and your children—you do not know which are closer to you in welfare. This is Allah's Law. Allah is Knowing and Judicious."

And look at what sura 4:34 says about the treatment of women.

But Paul wrote in Ephesians 5:25 (KJV), "Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;"

I could write so much more on this topic but this post is getting too long. Instead, I'll save it for my next book called You Think You're Going to Heaven? People need to understand that the God of the Bible and Allah are diametrically opposite to each other.
