Halloween is thought of by many as a time to dress up as witches, monsters, and other frightening things. What many folks fail to realize is that the Devil and his demons are real.

We see in Scripture how Christ healed physical ailments as well as casting out demons. Luke 8:1-3 (Bible in Basic English) tells us, "And it came about, after a short time, that he went through town and country giving the good news of the kingdom of God, and with him were the twelve, And certain women who had been made free from evil spirits and diseases, Mary named Magdalene, from whom seven evil spirits had gone out, And Joanna, the wife of Chuza, Herod's chief house-servant, and Susanna and a number of others, who gave him of their wealth for his needs."

But along with Christ's kindness, we see how serious God was about witchcraft. Exodus 22:18 (BBE) bluntly states, "Any woman using unnatural powers or secret arts is to be put to death."

Furthermore, God gives his reason for such an extreme sentence in Leviticus 20:6 (BBE). "And whoever goes after those who make use of spirits and wonder-workers, doing evil with them, against him will my face be turned, and he will be cut off from among his people."

Notice too that whenever Israel forsook the Lord, they worshipped demons who pretended to be gods. As Deuteronomy 32:17 (BBE) states plainly, "They made offerings to evil spirits which were not God, to gods who were strange to them, which had newly come up, not feared by your fathers."

Is it any wonder then that God hates such monstrous wickedness? As Paul wrote in 1 Thessalonians 5:22 (BBE), "Keep from every form of evil."

Why Are Fortune Tellers And Spiritists Dangerous?

 "It's only harmless fun," I hear various people say when talking about the occult. Some folks, including those naming Christ's name, read the horoscopes to find out what they predict for them that day.

Little do such fools realize that these things are Satan's bate. Instead of trusting God, people tend to trust in what these sources of divination advise.

Scripture has much to say about the dangers of the occult. For example, Leviticus 20:6 (Bible in Basic English) warns, "And whoever goes after those who make use of spirits and wonder-workers, doing evil with them, against him will my face be turned, and he will be cut off from among his people."

We also learn how repulsive such deliberate sins are to God in Deuteronomy 18:10-12 (BBE.) "Let there not be seen among you anyone who makes his son or his daughter go through the fire, or anyone using secret arts, or a maker of strange sounds, or a reader of signs, or any wonder-worker, Or anyone using secret force on people, or putting questions to a spirit, or having secret knowledge, or going to the dead for directions. For all who do such things are disgusting to the Lord; and because of these disgusting things the Lord your God is driving them out before you."

We also read that the gods and goddesses worshiped by pagan people were in fact demons. Leviticus 17:7 (BBE) clearly states, "And let them make no more offerings to evil spirits, after which they have gone, turning away from the Lord. Let this be a law to them for ever, through all their generations."

Deuteronomy 32:17 (BBE) also proves that false gods are in fact demons. Speaking of wicked Israelites, "They made offerings to evil spirits which were not God, to gods who were strange to them, which had newly come up, not feared by your fathers."

Just by these scriptures, it's clear that the occult isn't our playground but a spiritual mine field.

Who Leads People Astray, God or Allah?

For those of us who trust in Christ, there's no doubt on this point. But for those who might still wonder, here's what the Bible says about God and what the Quran says about Allah.

Look at what Paul wrote in Titus 1:2 (KJV). "In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;"

But one of many examples of Allah leading people astray is sura 4:88 (Women). "What is the matter with you, divided into two factions regarding the hypocrites, when Allah Himself has overwhelmed them on account of what they did? Do you want to guide those whom Allah has led astray? Whomever Allah leads astray—you will never find for
him a way."

But some folks might argue that God blinds people spiritually. They might quote Deuteronomy 28:28 (KJV) which says, "The LORD shall smite thee with madness, and blindness, and astonishment of heart:" 

But throughout Scripture, only those who refuse to see are spiritually blinded. As Paul wrote in Ephesians 4:18 (KJV) of the wicked, "Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart:"

Joe Casey, creator of the video series called Understanding Islam, said that the English versions of the Quran were altered so that the word "deceivers" was changed to "planners." Sura 3:54 (FAMILY OF IMRAN ) says, "They planned, and Allah planned; but Allah is the Best of planners."

But according to the Bible, Satan is the deceiver. Jesus said to the Pharisees in John 8:44 (KJV) that, "Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it."

I suppose that some folks will say that the Devil isn't Allah. Look at what Deuteronomy 32:17 (KJV) says about any other god than the real one. "They sacrificed unto devils, not to God; to gods whom they knew not, to new gods that came newly up, whom your fathers feared not."

On Thursday, I'll post about the one who intercedes for us in Heaven. We believers know who it is but the Quran contradicts the scriptures on this point as well.
