As I wrote previously in regard to Joseph Smith's bible translation, the Jehovah's Witnesses also mistranslated Holy Scripture. They did so to make the Bible conform to their warped doctrines. Their chief target was the Trinity.
For instance, they made John 1:1 so it would say, "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was (a) God." This makes Jesus sound like a lesser god than his Father.
The Translation Committee also butchered John 1:3 to read, "All (other) things were made by him; and without him was not any (other) thing made that was made." They believed that Jesus was created by God and not existing with God from everlasting to everlasting.
From their own Kingdom Interlinear Bible, any student can see that those words aren't there. But the Watchtower Society, the organization which directs the Jehovah's Witnesses in every aspect of their lives, hides that fact. Witnesses are taught to use a few favourite scriptures to befuddle and confuse believers in Christ that their New World Translation is the only one properly translated.
Furthermore, they twist Philippians 2:13-16 to mean that their organization gives people strength to do the Lord's work. The verses actually say, "For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure. Do all things without murmurings and disputings: That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world; Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain."
I could write so much more on this topic alone, as many former Witnesses and qualified Bible scholars have already done. I'll be adding this and other facts in my next book called You Think You're Going to Heaven? Maybe the Lord will work through the work of my hands to save others from eternity in hell.
