Does this song resonate with you? It does with me. When The Poppy Family had this hit in October of 1968, I was at Jericho Hill School for the Deaf and Blind. A bully made my life a living hell during those years and my one escape was my radio.
I identified with the person in the song. Life seemed to be one endless disappointment and nobody seemed to be on my side.

I'm glad I didn't commit suicide back then. Thoughts of ending it all were on my mind constantly that autumn. Thanks to forward-thinking educators, I was mainstreamed into the public school system two years later.
The Apostle Paul was no stranger to hardships. He wrote in 2 Corinthians 11:24-28, in defense of his ministry, "Of the Jews five times received I forty stripes save one. Thrice was I beaten with rods, once was I stoned, thrice I suffered shipwreck, a night and a day I have been in the deep; In journeyings often, in perils of waters, in perils of robbers, in perils by mine own countrymen, in perils by the heathen, in perils in the city, in perils in the wilderness, in perils in the sea, in perils among false brethren; In weariness and painfulness, in watchings often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness. Beside those things that are without, that which cometh upon me daily, the care of all the churches."
How wonderful it was that God led him through all those trials and worked so many things out for good. Our heavenly Father does the same things in our lives. Let's trust him no matter how bad life gets.
