I was a day student at the school for the blind where I went in Nebraska, so I didn't fit in there totally, and I didn't fit in with the rest of my family or people from church. At school I wasn't as sighted as some, and I wasn't totally blind, so I didn't fit into either of those categories. During my last two years of school, I went to a public high school, where I didn't feel like I fit in there either, as I had hoped I might. College was better, but I didn't start having more self confidence until I took rehabilitation training and learned independent living skills, including using a long, white cane. It's easier to explain to people that I'm blind with a little usable vision than it was in the past to have people wonder how much I could or couldn't see.Johnhttp://www.destinysurvival.comnoreply@blogger.com
